The St. Marien-Krankenhaus Siegen (acute care hospital) Anesthesiologist is the perioperative physician who provides care to the patient throughout his or her surgical experience. This includes medical evaluation prior to surgery, consulting with the surgical team, providing pain control and support of life functions during surgery, supervising care immediately following surgery, and medically discharging the patient from the recovery unit.
Our physicians have completed extensive training in their specialty and subspecialty areas. The team provides a wide range of anesthesia services from basic inpatient and outpatient services, to the subspecialties of obstetrical, thoracic, vascular, orthopaedic and outpatient anesthesia, in addition to acute and chronic pain management. The Critical Care Unit of the Institute of Anesthesiology contributes to the overall continuity of care for patients who require the expertise of the intensivist.
